I think we shot the film on a Sony HDW-750 Camera with a P+S Technik Pro35 adaptor, but I am not completely sure.
We did not really use any plug-ins for particles in the film. We shot some stock footage particles that we used in a few of the matte painting shots. Initially we planed to include particles falling in all the scenes, as you can see in the first visual test here: http://www.ov43.com/behind-the-scenes/concept/ We did some experimentation with Trapcode Particular and Maya particles, but in the end, we decided that it would be to much work on top of all the other post production we had to complete.

For the title sequence we shot particles in a water tank. After much experimentation we found that dropping instant coffee on the water surface created a really cool effect, with the particles falling with sort of a smoke trail behind them. So thats what we used. Much more fun than fiddling with digital particles in my opinion.

Most of the shots where we needed to remove unwanted objects in the background was using a locked off camera, so we usually just exported a frame from the film, and painted on that in Photoshop.

Congratulations to all you guys!!!! Trully a beautyful work! Acting, directing, photography, editing, sound...all is great!
I, myself, am a post-apocalyptic, gasmask freak and this short is a blessing to my soul.
I recently made a short film intitled ANALOG wich has some of your elements, such as the minimalistic image and sound. Since we have something in common for these minimal worlds made with little budget, I thought that maybe you guys would like to watch it. If it interests you, here is the link: http://vimeo.com/10206640
It's just a 5 minute trailer since it's doing the festival rounds but it tells a story.
Once again, congrats! Much success for CONNECTED and hope to see some new stuff from you soon. Cheers!
